This page explains what personal information Fen Developments Ltd collects through fendevelopments.com, why, and what you can do about it. We’ve kept it short and in plain English.

Who we are

Fen Developments Ltd is a building and carpentry company based in Spalding, South Lincolnshire. We are the “controller” of the personal information described here, which means we decide how it is used.

What we collect

When you contact us or use our “Suggest a Meeting” form: your name, phone number, email address, postcode or area, the type of work you’re interested in, your preferred days or times, and anything you write in your message. The form sends this to us by email at info@fendevelopments.com.

When you phone or email us directly: your contact details and whatever you tell us about your project.

When you visit the website: like most websites, our web server and security software record technical details such as your IP address, browser type, the pages you visit and when. A few small files (cookies) are also used – see “Cookies” below.

If you become a customer: our Client & Team app (fen-developments.netlify.app) has its own privacy page, which you can find inside the app under “Your privacy”. It covers the job details, photos, messages and paperwork we keep there.

We don’t ask for sensitive information (such as health details) and we don’t knowingly collect information from children.

We never sell your details.

How long we keep it

  • Enquiries that don’t go ahead: deleted once we no longer need them. We delete them 12 months after our last contact, unless you ask us to delete them sooner.
  • Customer job records: kept while they are useful for guarantees and accounts. We keep them for 6 years after the job is finished, to match tax-record rules.
  • Website security logs: kept for a short time by our security software.

Who we share it with

We only share your information with companies that help us run the website and our business, and only as much as they need:

  • Our website host (RPV Websites), which stores the website and sends form emails.
  • Our email provider (Microsoft 365), where enquiry emails arrive.
  • Akismet (Automattic), which checks form messages for spam. It receives the form details and your IP address.
  • Wordfence, security software that protects the website from attacks using visitors’ IP addresses and browser details.
  • Google, which provides the map on our Contact page and the fonts used on the site. Your browser connects to Google to load them, so Google receives your IP address.
  • Facebook (Meta), if our Facebook feed is showing posts – these load from Facebook.
  • Supabase, which stores Client & Team app data on servers in London, UK (customers only).

Some of these companies (Automattic, Wordfence, Google and Meta) are based in the USA. Where information goes outside the UK, it is protected by UK-approved safeguards, such as the UK–US “data bridge” or standard contract clauses.

We may also share information if the law requires it, for example with HMRC or the police.

Cookies

Cookies are small files stored by your browser. Our website uses:

  • Admin and security cookies – only for people who log in to manage the website.
  • Browser session storage – remembers that you’ve already seen our intro video, and checks what your browser supports. It is cleared when you close the tab and isn’t a tracking cookie.
  • Third-party content – the Google map, and the Facebook feed when it shows posts, may set their own cookies. These are controlled by Google and Meta under their own privacy policies.

We don’t use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel or any advertising trackers.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site will still work.

Marketing

We will only send you offers, vouchers or news if you have said yes to them. You can say no at any time by replying “unsubscribe”, or by emailing info@fendevelopments.com. Asking us about a job does not sign you up to marketing.

Your rights

You can ask us to:

  • give you a copy of the information we hold about you
  • correct anything that’s wrong
  • delete your information (where the law allows – for example, we must keep some records for tax)
  • stop or limit how we use it, or object to us using it
  • give your information to you, or to another company, in a usable format

Email info@fendevelopments.com and we’ll reply within one month. It’s free in most cases.

If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO): ico.org.uk or 0303 123 1113.

Keeping it safe

We use a secure (HTTPS) website, security software, and password-protected email and systems. Only people at Fen Developments who need your details can see them.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we use personal information, we’ll update this page and the “Last updated” date at the top.
